HELP with my question! Did I do something wrong with how I gave? I gave mindfully to the employee at Jack in the Box drive through last night. I gave her a $10 bill and told her it was for her to keep, after she gave me my order. I drove off suddenly and very happy about giving and even had a butterfly feeling in my heart. However, I can't help but to think about her reaction. She seemed confused as to why I was giving it to her. I couldn't tell if she was insulted that I thought she needed it, or if she was confused out of shock that there are nice people in this world. She just had a tired look that asked why I was giving that to her, she didn't know what to do with it and didn't seem to get it. Did I do something wrong?

Just personally speaking, I know how hard it can be to let go of needing/wanting/craving control and to understand exactly what it happening at all times. The reaction may have been one out of fear: Is this a test that I'm being set up to pass/fail? Or concern: Is it okay/allowed for me to receive this here/now? Or out of confusion: What's happening? Or maybe, as you point out she was struggling with feelings of judgement: Does she think I need this? Does that say something about me? All of these feelings are totally valid and part of her journey...and that said, I think the only thing you need to focus on is if your giving is done with kind, thoughtful, open, and loving intention, if so, then it can never be wrong. One of the joys of giving is learning - through feelings and reactions of how gifts are received. Letting go of expectations, and regardless, continuing to give for a pure and simple sake of giving, contributing, and adding to the good. :)
