Yesterday was International Women’s Day. My facebook and instagram feeds lit up with images of empowering sisterhood and shared experience. I did not march or protest, but instead spent the day doing intensive self-care because I have felt depleted and a little depressed recently. I cooked some good food, rested, meditated and sent out peaceful energy to all beings everywhere.
Monday, March 5 was my son, Henry Zane’s fifth birthday and my re-birthday; four years since I stopped drinking alcohol. I wasn’t able to get back to Nebraska for Henry’s parties, bummer. He had a hotwheels party. Today my sponsor Susie is hosting a little potluck and a Mixed Nuts Recovery Meeting at her condo in my honor. We will eat, share some fellowship and talk about the joy of living free from addiction and coping with emotional and mental health challenges.
