Chris McGrath Honorary Ambassador

Posted 10/9/2015 by Stephen Fells

Chris McGrath came through the Spurs youth team bursting onto the scene with Spurs as a teenager in the 1973/74 season. He made his League debut in a 2-0 win over north-London rivals Arsenal in October 1973 and by the end of the season had played 25 League games, scoring five goals. More impressive was his form in Europe as he scored five times in just eight appearances helping Spurs reach the UEFA Cup Final. Unfortunatley Spurs lost 4-2 in aggregate to Feyenoord.

We are humbled and thrilled to have Chris as our Honorary Ambassador!

While at Spurs Chris played alongside Tottenham greats including Martin Chivers, Steve Perryman (MBE), Alan Mullery (MBE) and Martin Peters (MBE). Initially that was under the managership of the legend that is Bill Nicholson (OBE) during his last full season.

As an international Chris represented Northern Ireland 21 times scoring on four occasions playing with the amazing George Best and against legends including Berti Vogts, Johan Cruyff, Kevin Keegan (OBE) and Kenny Dalglish (MBE).

Chris was sold by Tottenham to Manchester United in 1976 where he made 38 appearances, scoring once. He left United in 1981 to join the Tulsa Roughnecks in the NASL.

Chris became an Honorary Ambassador for the East Fishkill Spurs Supporters Club in 2015:
