This is such a timely share. My comment may seem "out there," because it literally is! There is a point at the end, so stay with me.
I often contemplate the magnificent and timeless universe we have the incredible opportunity and privilege to live in. Teaching our children about the universe is not a priority, only a passing interest on a field trip to an observatory. I want to scream at people to wake up and look up. So many just don't get it, and I feel isolated when that happens.
Secularly and simplistically speaking, we live on a rock that is spinning through space that is alive with beings and plants and food because of a large burning ball of fire. We have the technology to see and travel to other planets! We can see other galaxies! We found water on Mars!
It's Science Fiction, without the Fiction.
If the miracle and activity of space and our presence in it were taught world-wide and be #1 in the daily news, instead of ridiculous celebrities, I believe we would not feel so isolated. I believe people would realize that this is what we all have in common and we need to work together to take care of our big rock, our shared home, and each other in the short time we're granted.
Thank you for listening to my connection to others today. And thank you, Mitch, for your gift of thought-provoking posts.
