Hi, I am a mother, grandmother and a elementary special education teacher. Seeking awareness of self and helping others seems to be more main focus right now. I live on a small farm in Maine and have my "pack" of 3 dogs and a cat who go on daily walks with me. On summer break right now so more opportunities to do the walks in a variety of places. Have been searching out local trails to try that are dog friendly. (Cat does not go on these ;0)). I love camping, reading and gardening.
Funny how things happen. I was thinking my today gift was going to be mailing a card to my granddaughter. Instead it turned out to be a kitchen overhaul! My long awaited new back door arrived today complete with the installer and his wife along as a helper. We hit it right off and soon she was advising me how to change some furniture around in the kitchen because this door opened opposite than the old one. Turns out she has been working on rebuilding herself and just decided she was going to be who she was not what someone told her. I told her i had been doing likewise. Long story short, turns out I had the perfect piece of furniture to replace the one we emptied and moved aside. She helped me lug it upstairs and was just so excited digging around in my "stuff" finding things to put out. The end result is not only a beautiful new back door, but an open airier kitchen! We both commented oh how good it feels to declutter and organize. On that note, I gave her a couple of small pieces of wooden furniture I was not sure what to do with. She went away happy with her treasures and I am happy to have had such a clarifying moment shared with a stranger! Seems like some days are just easier and lighter than they used to be. I am so grateful for beginning this fun project and now onto round two of 29 gifts!
I just completed my first 29 Days! What an enjoyable experience. Some days I had to stretch to come up with something but most of the time it was just natural! Let's see what the next 29 bring! Letter writing has become part of a routine now for me, as well as journaling!
Day 19. I seem to be giving a lot of time away, spending it with family and friends. I gave away a gratitude rock yesterday and mentioned this to my granddaughters today. They picked up rocks to create their own gratitude rocks. After taking a walk in a local preserve this morning I felt the need to look up the trust that works with the preserve and decided to become a member so as to be more active with caring for our lands. Seems like this giving daily has made me more aware of what I do have and has increased my feelings of gratitude.
Me again, I am day 18 and just had another light bulb moment with giving. Stopping off to help a friend by picking up a purchase for her at a farm I noticed the little girls there with a table set up to sell crafts. I checked out the table and bought a painted rock for myself. When I got in the car I remembered reading something about giving rocks and thought and felt I needed to get another for my friend who had sent me there in the first place. Can't wait to deliver her order and her rock! This is fun! I need to look up that part about giving rocks to remind myself what Cami had done.
Patricia, that is AWESOME! Our Rock Giving Day is August 29th this month. We are so excited to share giving rocks and gratitude rocks on that day. I am excited that you are going to join in the fun!
Day 14, I am beginning to think this gifting is also giving just as much to me! I have been reconnecting with others and enjoying company of others I have lost touch with. Bonus for me!
Today's gift did not pop out to me like the other 12 until I just now checked facebook and a friend had shared about her friend who was in need. Remembering how Cami gave selflessly in her first 29 days I donated to the cause. Grateful for my health and my family's.
Day 12- I have been enjoying this activity, today's gift may be a little unusual, but it was for my dogs!....and my grandgirls :) I took them all the beach early this morning. They all loved it, especially my aged Golden who is so totally a water dog! Loved the morning there with my family. Just a good family feeling!
